Movement spaces, mountain wilderness, creek hangs, tea houses, hidden gems — for travelers who go slow.
Welcome to Boulder 🌄. This color-full air, these mountains 🏔️, & buildings, that scrape the crisp blue skies ... with sunlight ☀️ 300 days a year. Their topography, etched in my heart 💓, muscles, and skin. This place will always feel like a version of home for me 🏡, and I hope it will welcome you, widen your eyes 👀 and give you a thing or two to dream about... 🌠

Big ecstatic dance energy with epic community vibes. 🌈
Sons of Italy / Rhythm Village · 5925 W 32nd Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
Plan for sweat — bring water 💧 and a layer for after. Wheat Ridge is ~35 min from central Boulder; budget extra time if storms are rolling in over the foothills. ⛈️

Perfect for contact improv nerds and embodied exploration. 🌀
Boulder Circus Center · 4747 26th St, Boulder, CO 80301

🌟 Boulder Ecstatic Dance
🌅 Sun · 6:30–9pm
Large beloved ecstatic dance community with beautiful humans and expansive movement. 💃✨
Avalon Ballroom · 6185 Arapahoe Rd, Boulder, CO 80303

🌙 3rd Friday Contact Dance
🪐 3rd Fri · 8–10pm
A contact-heavy monthly dance with incredible local contact dancers and movers of every other style. The Tango Studio at the Avalon — smaller, more intimate, deeply skilled. 🤝✨
Avalon Ballroom · Tango Studio · 6185 Arapahoe Rd, Boulder, CO 80303
Once a month, third Friday — set a calendar reminder. 📆 Contact-heavy means partner weight-sharing is the default, so come open. The Tango Studio is a separate room at the Avalon; follow signs from the main entrance.
🦍 Ape Co Movement
Awesome movement classes and a great community. Functional movement, primal patterns, mobility — for bodies that want to remember how to move. 💪
Boulder, CO
🚗~10 min from downtown Boulder · check site for studio address
Check the schedule on their site — classes rotate by style and skill level. Newcomers welcome; the community is the draw as much as the practice. 🌱
🌊 Body Practice
A Denver movement gym run by my dear friend Mike Fitch — creator of Animal Flow. 🐅 Training-focused, with contemporary dance and yoga taught by incredible teachers. A beautiful community of movers who live with aloha. 🌺
Mike is the originator of Animal Flow — the movement system that's spread worldwide, from beast crawls to ape gait to scorpion reach. 🦂 If he's teaching when you visit, take the class. 🌟
Trailhead parking is tiny — go early or weekday. Several creek crossings; wet feet likely after spring melt or rain. 💦 Watch for afternoon flash-flood risk in monsoon season. ⛈️
💧 Buckingham Park River Pools
Walk upstream for hidden river pools and creek hangs. 🪨
Buckingham Park · Boulder Canyon Dr, west of Boulder, CO
Summer weekends are packed — weekday mornings are bliss. Tubes rent nearby on Pearl/Canyon. Cold mountain water year-round; even in August it'll wake you up. ❤️
🌅 Nederland Sunset Mission
Drive Boulder Canyon, catch sunset at the reservoir, then wander town for dinner / tea. 🎠
Boulder Canyon drive is half the magic — windows down, slow it. 🚙 Nederland sits at 8,200 ft, so bring a layer even on warm days. 🧥 Catch the Carousel of Happiness if it's spinning. 🎠
🦌 Estes Park + Rocky Mountain National Park
Massive mountain energy, alpine lakes, elk, and surreal landscapes. 🏔️✨
Beaver Meadows Entrance · 1000 US-36, Estes Park, CO 80517
RMNP uses a timed-entry reservation system in peak season — check the NPS site before you drive up. 🎟️ Layers, water, sunscreen, snacks. ⚡ Afternoon thunderstorms are common above tree line; start early, descend by 1pm if you're high.

🎭 Pearl Street Mall
Street performers, bookstores, tea shops, and classic Boulder wandering. 🌳
Wednesday and Saturday have the most street performers. 🎷 Farmers market on Pearl runs Saturday mornings April–November. 🥕 Garages on 11th/Spruce or 14th/Walnut beat circling for street parking.
🥾 Chautauqua Park
Best at sunrise or golden hour with stunning Flatiron views. 🌄
Parking fills early on summer weekends — by 8am it's gone. 🚗 Use the free Park-to-Park shuttle from town in summer, or walk/bike up Baseline. 🚲 Bluebird Cafe at the historic auditorium is a sweet pre-hike stop. ☕

📚 Trident Café
Perfect for journaling, tea, and artist conversations. ✍️🍵
940 Pearl St, Boulder, CO 80302
🚶on Pearl St — walkable from anywhere in downtown Boulder
The bookstore in back is a portal 🌀 — leave time to wander. Outlets are scarce; come with battery. 🔋 Their chai is the kind you'll think about later. ✨
Weekends sell out by mid-day ⏰ — the morning bun is the universally agreed grail. 🥇 Cash and card both fine. Louisville location too if Boulder is mobbed.
🌿 Leaf Vegetarian Restaurant
A beloved Boulder vegetarian spot — elegant plates, a sweet wine list, and the kind of room that makes a meal feel like an event. 🍷✨
Dinner is the move — the room glows after sunset. 🌅 Reservations recommended on weekends. The patio in warm weather is small but lovely; ask when you book. 🌿
🫖 Dushanbe Teahouse
One of the most beautiful buildings in Boulder. Deep tea magic. 🍵✨
A gift from Boulder's sister city in Tajikistan — every panel hand-painted, every pillar hand-carved. 🎨 Reservations highly recommended, especially for the full tea service. Sit by the windows for the creek view. 💧
🧪 Tonic
A magical elixir lounge — adaptogens, tonics, herbal alchemy, and the kind of slow drinks that make your nervous system exhale. ✨🍵
Ask the bar for a recommendation based on how you're feeling — they'll meet you where you are. 🌿 The lighting is low and the energy is unhurried; come planning to stay a while.
🫀
One last thing.
Colorado is a strange and beautiful blend of mountain wilderness, conscious movement culture, creek hangs, ecstatic dances, tea houses, thunderstorms, and deeply embodied humans trying to remember how to be alive. ✨
